According to the Company's press release, Internet-based sales in 2006 at retailer Coldwater Creek Inc. increased 33% from 2005 to $263.7 million from $198.3 million, the company reports. Internet sales represented 25% of the company`s total sales in 2006 vs. 25.4% in the year earlier. Fourth quarter Internet-based sales were up 35.4% over the year-earlier quarter to $98.4 million from $72.6 million and represented 26.8% of total sales vs. 25.6% a year earlier.
Companywide sales reached $1.05 billion for the year, up 35% from 2005. Companywide sales in the fourth quarter were $366.6 million, up 29.1% from $283.9 million a year earlier.
Sales attributed to the catalog for the year were $126.8, flat compared to 2005, and $43.9 for the fourth quarter, down 8.8% from $48.1 million in Q4 2005. Coldwater Creek increased its catalog mailings in 2006 by 5% to 118.7 million from 113 million.
Again in 2006, the strongest growth in Sales for Coldwater Creek remained in retail stores increasing 46.1% to $664.2 million from $454.5 million in 2005. Retail store square footage, excluding spa, resort and outlet stores, increased 40%. Interesting to note however is the fact that the Company reported comparable store sales increased only 2.3 percent for the three-month period ended February 3, 2007, compared with a 21.6 percent increase in the prior-year period. Will we finally see the growth rate for Internet Sales surpass store sales? To Be Determined!
